Bluegrass Concert

February 9 @ 6:00 pm

The annual Jake Landers Bluegrass Concert

The Tennessee Valley Art Association is happy to announce the Jake Landers Bluegrass Concert headliner:  Volume five.

Volume Five is a traditional bluegrass band from Booneville, Mississippi, set apart from other hands by their soulful singing, dead-on harmonies and precision picking.  In 2017, Volume Five was honored with two International Bluegrass Music Association Awards including the prestigious Song of the Year award for “I Am a Drifter.”  The song appeared on “Volume Five’s” Billboard Top 10 album, “Drifter.”  Volume Five, can perform other genres of music but their program at the Jake Landers Bluegrass Concert will be predominantly traditional bluegrass.

Joining Volume Five will be Iron Horse.  The Shoals-based band has been performing at Jake Landers Concert for years and have taken up the mantle of helping organize the concert.  Iron Horse is an award-winning Bluegrass band with a national following.  Their bluegrass cover albums of pop music have been a gateway album for many new bluegrass fans.

Award winning banjo player, Scooter Muse, will conduct a free pre-concert demonstration, which will include a discussion of the techniques for playing the instrument he fell in love with in 1968.  Muse is a teaching and touring artist and founded The Full Moon Ensemble, a Celtic band that has toured the U.S., Canada, Scotland and achieved national recognition.
