Clay Whistle Workshop

Charlie Mato-Toyela will lead a clay whistle making workshop at the Florence Indian Mound Museum on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10 am. Clay whistles have been made in the Americas for thousands of years. This workshop will provide in-depth details about the process, both as it relates to ancient and modern techniques. Participants will leave the workshop with an in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the works of Native Americans as well as a functional clay whistle (made by them) which can be fired at home using a simple and effective firing system. Questions and answers during the process.
This program is free and is open to all ages and is sponsored by Florence Arts and Museums and the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area.
