Gallery Talk & Exhibit Opening
Gallery Talk – Melissa Tubbs
Architectural portraitist Melissa Tubbs will present a gallery talk on her work and process at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art in Tuscumbia on Sunday, June 2nd.
Tubbs’s work comprises “Pen & Ink,” a solo show and one of three exhibitions that will be on display in the museum galleries throughout the month of June.
Tubbs’s work uses layer upon layer of hatched and crosshatched marks with exquisite precision to produce the lifelike patterns of light and shadow in architectural structures.
The three exhibitions are linked by their connections to state and local culture and heritage. In addition to “Pen & Ink,” the exhibitions include the annual Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama, which features the inspiring artwork of visually impaired children, and “The Rise of the Southern Craft Movement,” displaying selections from the museum’s remarkable collection of Southern Craft pieces, 1970s-present.
All three exhibitions are endorsed Alabama Bicentennial events. “Pen & Ink” was developed as an Alabama Bicentennial project and has been touring the state as part of the Alabama’s 200th anniversary celebration.
The artist’s gallery talk will be held at the exhibit opening:
Sunday, June 2, 2019
Tennessee Valley Museum of Art
511 North Water Street
The gallery talk and the exhibition opening are free and open to the public.
