Rick Adams Exhibit

Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts is pleased to present Out of the Wood, an exhibition of wood and ceramic sculpture by Decatur, AL artist Rick Adams on display February 1 – 24 in the main gallery. Rick Adams is an alumni of the University of North Alabama and Muscle Shoals Native. Adams has been carving wood since he was a child. Out of the Wood is a collection of sculpture created over years of seeking natural pieces of wood to bring out the wilds of their spirit. Adams’s wood sculptures personify a human essence while his clay pieces complement them with botanical and animal inspirations.

Despite years of work in the television industry, Adams was always inspired by nature and creating artwork that would express his relationship to nature. Adams taught art for many years and has always had a passion for art outreach. Recently, he moved back to the Tennessee Valley from Florida where he lived for twenty-eight years. He has set up his new studio overlooks a glorious vista of the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge.
