Bruce Gist

A singer and songwriter, Bruce Gist was involved in the early stages of the Muscle Shoals music scene. He was a native of St. Joseph, Tennessee, but spent most of his life in Killen, Alabama. Gist cataloged more than 150 songs which were recorded by a variety of artists, including Percy Sledge. His song titled Love Me Like You Mean It was often covered by Janis Joplin and was recorded by the artist Pink for the movie about Janis Joplin. He died in April of 2010 at the age of 71.
