Songwriter/Producer Robert Byrne was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1954 but he spent much of his life in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. In 1977 he won the American Song Festival professional division grand prize and in 1978 he won the professional country category prize.
Byrne wrote singles for many artists including Ronnie Milsap, Earl Thomas Conley, The Carpenters, Mickey Gilley, T.G. Sheppard, Captain and Tennille, the Osmonds, Thelma Houston, Anne Murray and Shenandoah. He died in June of 2005 of unknown causes.
