With a long history of habitation by indigenous cultures and reputation as a critical position in the Civil War, Florence and The Shoals are home to a rich history and many historical sites and museums. Ivy Green, the Birthplace of Helen Keller, is one of the area’s most famous attractions. Visitors can tour Keller’s childhood home and view original furnishings, personal mementos, and books.

Music History
