Spooky events, haunted attractions and tours are abundant this Halloween season in The Shoals! From Oktoberfest to haunted walks, there is something for everyone to get into the Halloween spirit!

Oktoberfest 2019

October 5th, St. Florian will be hosting their Oktoberfest at the St. Florian City Park. This event will feature antique car shows, live music, antique tractor shows, assorted vendors, children’s rides and lots of food!

Haunted Trolley Tours and Ghost Walks

Step aboard the trolley for a spirited evening as the tour guide and author, Debra Glass, regales you with tales steeped in legend, folklore, and truth. As twilight creeps over the homes and hidden courtyards of historic downtown Florence, prepare yourself to witness the mysterious and inexplicable all from the comfort of your trolley seat. On The Haunted History of Florence Trolley Tour, you’ll visit Downtown Florence’s most haunted restaurant. The infamous spot where the meanest man who ever lived in Florence met a grisly fate, a Civil War hospital where the victims still haunt the living, homes of famous residents whose ghosts still walk the halls of their past lives and much more! The trolley tours will take place on October 17th and 27th at 7:30 PM-9 PM! Click here for tickets!

If walking is more your style, tour the Downtown Florence Alabama Haunted Historic District at Night! The Downtown Florence Haunted History of the Shoals Ghost Walk is the flagship Florence tour. On The Downtown Florence Haunted History of the Shoals Ghost Walk Tour, you’ll visit the same sites as the trolley tour!

Florence walking tours will take place at 7:30 PM on October 19, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30 and 31st!

Across the river, there’s a ghost walk in Sheffield! On The Haunted History of the Sheffield Ghost Walk Tour, you’ll hear Downtown Sheffield’s most haunted restaurant, we’ll show you where to eat at a haunted location, the story of the historic neighborhood where scores of Sheffield citizens met a grisly fate, a recording studio where a session musician still haunts the living, homes of famous residents whose ghosts still walk the halls of their past lives and much more! Special UNA Ghost Walk Tour- October 17th at 7:30 PM

Brave souls will have the opportunity to tour the haunted University of North Alabama campus at night, while also supporting UNA’s live mascots. The University is teaming up with Debra Glass and Haunted History of the Shoals to offer “A Haunted History of UNA Ghost Walk.” Participants start at Harrison Fountain. The tour will include buildings like Wesleyan Hall, Bibb Graves, the UNA Amphitheater, Norton auditorium, Coby Hall and Rogers Hall. In addition, half the proceeds generated from the tours will go to the care and support of UNA’s live African lion mascots, Leo and Una. Tickets are $15 for adults ages thirteen and older and $10 for kids ages 6-12. Children 5 years and under will be admitted for free. Tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking here!

Arx Mortis

Arx Mortis is NOT your mom and dad’s haunted house! From the name, Arx Mortis from the Latin meaning “The Castle of Death!” to the professional animatronics, actors, make-up and sets we have made every effort to bring you the best haunted entertainment possible. We like to think of it as more of a haunted experience than just an attraction. So every year they change large portions of the haunt to give you, the victim…sorry, I mean guest a new experience. The Legion has been devoting special attention, time and resources to actor training, makeup and costumes to make sure 2018 is the best and most horrific year yet! Mcgee Farms Pumpkin Patch

Nothing gets you in the Halloween and Fall spirit quite like a visit to the Pumpkin Patch! A trip to McGee Farm is such a fun experience for the whole family! One admission price includes a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin, a jump in the Barnyard Bounce and other fun farm-related activities! The Farm is open September 28 through October 31, 2018. During Weekdays 3 PM-6 PM, Saturdays 10 AM-6 PM and Sundays 1 PM-5 PM.
