From the desk of County Executive T.R. Williams KEESTONE RESORT OPENING THIS SUMMER About a year ago I wrote about a 55+ resort community planned for the formerGlenrock golf course just west of Loretto. After a recent tour, I have to say that the reality of the project exceeds my high expectations. Keestone at Village Point is an 88-acre development that includes nine holes of the golf course and surrounding area. Existing custom homes are still privately owned, and several one-half to two-acre building sites are available. Today the property includes Keestone Landing, a gated community with two- and three-bedroom houses with top-of-the line finishes and appliances. A total of 20 are being built and sold to individual homeowners. Keestone Resort is the centerpiece of the development. Construction is behind schedule because of our rainy winter, but was far enough along for my tour last week. Even in its unfinished state, it completely knocked my socks off. Construction workers were busy throughout the 80,000-square foot structure that will eventually house 44 luxury apartments, a restaurant, bakery, sports grill, the 350-seat Stone Theater, a small cinema, virtual golf center, two-lane bowling alley, corporate meeting rooms and event space. The former golf course clubhouse is being remodeled to include an indoor pool, fitness center, day spa, salon, and pet grooming center. An outdoor pool, tennis and pickleball courts, dog park, and nature trails and with water features are part of the plan. You might assume correctly that everything is pet-friendly. Access to all amenities and meal packages are included with the studio, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments in Keestone Resort. Homeowners at Keestone Landing can purchase amenity memberships and any of the Resort’s optional 24-hour concierge services - grocery pick-up, laundry, cleaning and maintenance – that they want. Local individuals and couples, businesses and corporations will be able to purchase amenity memberships for access to the pools, cinema, virtual golf, bowling alley and more. You can learn more about this option by calling 931.853.3303 or messaging info@keestone.com. Some features of Keestone Resort won’t require a membership as the community will be warm and welcoming. The restaurant, under the direction of chef Justin Letson; and bakery, with pastry chef Jess Rohling at the helm, will operate very much like businesses do everywhere. The public can also buy tickets to live performances at the Stone Theater. I’ve been blessed to sample Justin and Jess’s work, so I’m excited about the chance to dine with them more often. The Stone Theater is another asset I plan to enjoy. The venue will host well-known musicians, along with theatrical productions, author series and much more. The stage level of the auditorium will be filled with tables and chairs for dining; the balcony level offers traditional theater seating. Even more events are planned for the resort’s lawn, including summer concert series and art shows. Keestone at Village Point is being developed by William Keelon, CEO/Developer. His brother, Jerry Keelon, is the Designer/Builder of the project. I am thrilled William Keelon chose Lawrence County as the site for his first active adult community. It is a $12+ million-plus investment and the construction has created over 300 jobs. Staff members who have a background in hospitality and related fields will be hired before its opening this summer. I look forward to meeting new residents who will move to the resort, and to seeing my local friends enjoy life there, too. Thanks to William Keelon for making such a positive investment in Lawrence County. To learn more, visit Keestone.com. Come see what the Buzz is about!!! SERVICES:
