Food of the First Alabamians
The Florence Indian Mound Museum, through its partnership with the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, is hosting a series of children’s activities that help students to investigate the early culture of the Shoals through interactive learning. These programs will cover a wide range of topics; they are suitable for an elementary level age group; will focus on Native American history and culture; and will have a creative component, which will engage students in hands-on learning. All events are free.
Food of the First Alabamians will take place Saturday, February 23rd at 10 am. This learning exercise will focus on the Southeastern peoples and how they survived in different seasons. Students will learn how the first Alabamians grew, gathered, and prepared food.
