Locust & Cherry St & College Pl.
Preservation Florence is a year-long series concerning historic preservation in the city of Florence that has covered topics such as the National Register of Historic Places, physical restoration, African American and Native American preservation, and cemetery preservation. For the remainder of the year, the series will focus on Florence’s own historic districts. There will be a different presentation each month where the history and architecture of Florence’s unique historic districts will be explored. In August, we will host a presentation on three of Florence’s historic districts: College Place, Locust Street and Cherry Street. Presenters will be: Carrie Barske Crawford, Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area; Katie Randall, Afore Preservation; and Brian Murphy, Florence Arts and Museums. This free event will take place at 1:00 pm on Sunday August 18th at the Florence Indian Mound Museum.
