Book Launch - Overhead Espionage

On Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., the Shoals Writers Guild will host a book launch and signing for local author Charles E. Cabler’s new book, Overhead Espionage.
The launch will take place at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, 350 North
Wood Avenue, in Florence.
This fascinating book, published by Sunstone Press, is a historical
snapshot of the evolution of aerial reconnaissance in the United States. It discusses significant first-type reconnaissance aircrafts, beginning with the Union Army’s hot air balloon in 1861, includes a discussion of the U-2 and the SR-71 Blackbird, and concludes with the unmanned RQ-4A Global Hawk in use today.
As an additional interesting feature at the book launch, Major J. Damon Manders, US Army, will discuss the development of cameras for the purposes of aerial photography and reconnaissance.
