Race Amity Day
For the celebration of the annual RACE AMITY DAY occurring nationwide in the 2nd weekend of June, several events are planned in the Shoals. Local libraries of various cities of the Shoals will prepare a Book Display of writings on the themes of Race Relations and Unity in Diversity. There will be a Race Amity Program at the Florence-Lauderdale County Public Library that features a short informative video, a poem presentation, and the featured speaker Pete Key, a local youth animator. There will also be free guided tours in Florence to describe the history of African-American Neighborhoods in Florence, Alabama.
