Rock Art in North Alabama

This event has expired and is here for your information.

Archaeological stewardship is a historic preservation movement that is focused on the protection of archaeological sites for future generations. While historic buildings are threatened with removal, alteration, and neglect, archaeological sites face a different set of risks from environmental factors and human destruction. Protecting our archaeological sites and resources is an important part of understanding our history and investing in future generations.

Dr. Jan Simek will present his talk, chronicling his work with rock art in North Alabama, on Sunday, January 19th at 2pm. Dr. Simek is a professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Tennessee and has been studying cave art in the southeast for over 35 years.
