Shoals Chamber Singers - Christmas Concert

The Shoals Chamber Singers will offer two performances of its Christmas concert: the first at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Grace Episcopal Church, 103 Darby Ave., Sheffield, and again at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Florence First United Methodist Church, 415 N. Seminary St., Florence. Both performances are free to the public, with donations being accepted at the door.

These are the first concerts the group will perform with interim conductor Jane Powell and new accompanist Davonna Blasingame. Harpist Annette Harmon, flutist Carol Smith and cellist Thomas Maternik-Piret will provide additional instrumental accompaniment. Selections will include both sacred and seasonal favorites, such as “Silent Night!” arranged by Mack Wilberg, “White Christmas” arranged by Kirby Shaw, and John Rutter’s “What Sweeter Music.” The Shoals Chamber Singers wish to thank both venues for hosting.

The Shoals Chamber Singers are dedicated to bringing the highest quality choral music to listeners in the Shoals and Northern Alabama. This group of auditioned singers performs an eclectic repertoire extending back to the Renaissance and through the most contemporary idioms. Begun in 1987 with founding conductor, Kevin Robison, the choir’s focus is the enrichment of the human spirit and the fellowship of community through performing great choral art.
