Tom's Wall Guided Tour

This event has expired and is here for your information.

The Natchez Trace Parkway Association is inviting the public to attend a guided tour of the Wichahpi Commemorative Stone Wall, often referred to as “Tom’s Wall,” on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.

Host and tour guide will be Trace Hendrix. The location of the wall is 13890 County Road 8 in Florence. It is at the intersection of County Road 8 and the Natchez Trace Parkway. Those wishing to caravan to the wall can meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Florence-Lauderdale Visitor Center at 200 Jim Spain Drive (McFarland Park) in Florence.

The wall was built over the course of 30 years by Tom Hendrix in honor of his great-great grandmother and her journey from Oklahoma back to the Tennessee Valley. It is the largest non-mortared rock wall in the United States and the largest monument to a Native American woman.
