The Florence Indian Mound Museum, through its partnership with the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, is hosting a series of children’s activities that help students to investigate the early culture of the Shoals through interactive learning. These programs will cover a wide range of topics; they are suitable for an elementary level age group; will focus on Native American history and culture; and will have a creative component, which will engage students in hands-on learning. All events are free.

In February students will learn about the food of the indigenous southeastern peoples. Students will engage in a short lesson and then prepare an exhibit that will be on display at the Museum. This event will be held on Saturday, February 15th at 10 am.

This program is sponsored by the City of Florence Department of Arts and Museums and the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area. The Florence Indian Mound Museum is located at 1028 S. Court St. Florence, AL and is open, Tuesday - Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Call 256-760-6427 for more information.
