The Florence Indian Mound Museum, through its partnership with the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, is hosting a series of children’s activities that help students to investigate the early culture of the Shoals through interactive learning. These programs will cover a wide range of topics; they are suitable for an elementary level age group; will focus on Native American history and culture; and will have a creative component, which will engage students in hands-on learning. All events are free.
Our program on “harvest” will examine how southeastern peoples harvested corn, beans, and squash and processed them for storage. Students will work on an exhibit that will stay at the museum. This free program will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 19th.
